Upon completion of the work and passing of the final inspections, a Certificate of Completion can be issued.

As part of this application, the following documents are required:

  • Certification of Disconnection of Gas Service from utility provider
  • Certification of Disconnection of Water Service from utility provider
  • Certification of Disconnection of Electrical from utility provider
  • Certification of Disconnection of Sewer Service from utility provider
  • Demolition Plan showing location of elements to be demolished

If the scope of work includes structure relocation:

  • A route plan and traffic control plan are also required
  • Written approval from Canton Police is required for structure relocation

Upon determination that this application submittal is complete and the Plan Review is complete and approved, a Permit Fee payment will be required for Permit Issuance. Permit Issuance provides the applicant with permission to begin demolition.

Sign 

A permit is required to Install, Modify, or re-face a sign.
A Maximum of one (1) sign is allowed per permit application.
As part of the application the following documents may be required as part of the submittal

1. Site plan and/or survey drawn to scale which indicates the exact location of the proposed sign.  This drawing must indicate the exact distance of the proposed sign from right of ways, curbs and edge of pavement.  All proposed wall signs shall be drawn to scale using an engineer’s or architect’s scale.

2. Permission letter and/or a Fee Simple Property or Leasehold Interest agreement.

3. Color, graphic representation of the sign faces drawn to scale.

4. Electrical connections with details of all illuminated sign(s).

5. Mounting details of wall mount signs and/or Foundation details of all ground mounted signs.

6. Exact dimensions of sign area and height above grade of free standing or monument sign(s).

Temporary Sign 

A permit is required prior to the installation of any temporary sign including banners, a-frame signs, signs advertising vacant or undeveloped property, and inflatables including balloons. Permits are not required for a single accessory sign on private property with an area of up to 6 sq ft, as long as it is less than 42in tall. Grand Opening Signs less than 32 sq ft may be displayed for up to 30 days without a permit, however, it is recommended that Community Development be notified by completing this application, which will not incur a fee in order to prevent inconveniences.

A permit is required to Install, Modify, or re-face a sign.
A Maximum of one (1) sign is allowed per permit application.
As part of the application the following documents may be required as part of the submittal

1. Site plan and/or survey drawn to scale which indicates the exact location of the proposed sign.  This drawing must indicate the exact distance of the proposed sign from right of ways, curbs and edge of pavement.  All proposed wall signs shall be drawn to scale using an engineer’s or architect’s scale.

2. Permission letter and/or a Fee Simple Property or Leasehold Interest agreement.

3. Color, graphic representation of the sign faces drawn to scale.

4. Electrical connections with details of all illuminated sign(s).

5. Mounting details of wall mount signs and/or Foundation details of all ground mounted signs.

6. Exact dimensions of sign area and height above grade of free standing or monument sign(s).

Temporary Sign 

A permit is required prior to the installation of any temporary sign including banners, a-frame signs, signs advertising vacant or undeveloped property, and inflatables including balloons. Permits are not required for a single accessory sign on private property with an area of up to 6 sq ft, as long as it is less than 42in tall. Grand Opening Signs less than 32 sq ft may be displayed for up to 30 days without a permit, however, it is recommended that Community Development be notified by completing this application, which will not incur a fee in order to prevent inconveniences.

Temporary signs must be removed after 21 days per calendar quarter.
